A New Look for Waiohiki Masonic Retirement Villas

The Waiohiki flats at 37 Meeanee Road, were one of the first group of units built in the early 70’s by the Napier District Masonic Trust. Each of the 10 units has its own carport and they are conveniently situated close to the Taradale shops.

Throughout 2024 the NDMT Board and management have undertaken a major upgrade of the property both externally and internally. Accolades must go to the residents who patiently coped with the upheaval of builders, mud and constant disruption for a long period of time.

On the outside the new look signage and freshly painted buildings look crisp and modern with charcoal trellised fencing at the villa entranceways. The re-landscaped gardens are already looking established, and the resurfaced driveway completes this smart improvement.

Two villas vacant at the time have been gutted and redesigned with a modern open plan look and as other units become vacant, they will also be upgraded.

Kere Rowe is a new resident in one of the renovated units.  He said “I downsized from a three bedroomed house and admit to feeling nervous about the change to something smaller.  But once I had my furniture and belongings around me, I knew I had made the right choice.  It’s a five-minute walk to town and close to many amenities. The villa itself is perfect!”
