Living & Working in Hawke's Bay

Hawke’s Bay is a region located on the East Coast of New Zealand’s North Island. The region is a mecca for excellent food and wine and is known as ‘the fruit bowl of New Zealand”. Blessed with fertile soils and a warm, temperate climate, we are among New Zealand’s leading producers of wine. Hawke’s Bay is a great place to work and play, and the people who live here are warm and welcoming. It doesn’t take long to settle in and feel at home.

We employ a wide range of clinical care and support staff in our facilities including Registered Nurses, Health Care Assistants, Cooks, Kitchen Assistants, Cleaners, and other support roles. Our dedicated managers and administration staff complete our team to ensure only the best 24-hour care is available for our residents. The roles are varied as are the origins of many who hail not only from around New Zealand, but from countries around the world. We feel privileged that they have chosen to live in Hawke's Bay and work at NDMT where they enrich the culture of the local residents and staff.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I apply for a job at Napier District Masonic Trust?

The best way to apply is online https://ndmt.careercentre.net.nz/Job.  When you apply, you will be asked to create a profile, complete our online application form and attach your CV and Cover Letter. If you see our advertisements on a website (e.g. Seek or Trademe) you can apply via the link in our advertisement, and it will automatically take you to our website so you can complete your application. If you do not have access to a computer or suitable device to access our online job board, you are welcome to pop into the reception at one of our two facilities and pick up a manual application form.

I have no experience in the role I am interested in, can I still apply?

Yes, you can still apply for a role if you do not have relevant experience.  We have a robust training and orientation programme and many of our roles (cleaning, kitchen assistants and healthcare assistants) do not require previous experience to be considered.  Most important is the right attitude and personal attributes to align with our organisation.

Can I apply for a vacancy if I am not currently entitled to work in New Zealand?

Yes, you can still apply for one of our full-time positions (30+ hours per week) if you have relevant experience for the role you wish to apply for.  We do not always have vacancies that will meet your immigration requirements and we need to consider applications from those already legally entitled to work in New Zealand.   But do keep an eye on our jobsite for suitable positions we may advertise.

What background checks do you do?

Before we make a job offer we will also complete reference checks.  We do this after your interview and will also let you know first if we wish to conduct reference checking, this gives you an opportunity to let your referees know to expect a call from us first. We also complete a criminal history check for all new employees.  We will do this once you have accepted a job offer.

What is your interview process?

Our interview process depends on which role you are applying for.  You will usually attend one interview but some roles (e.g. leadership and management positions) may require an additional interview.  We conduct interviews face to face, however, if you live in another region, we may conduct a video interview online. Interviews are an opportunity for us to get to know you and for you to get to know us, so you can ensure our organisation is the place for you.  Your interview will include both situational and behavioural style questions, so make sure you think of some examples of previous work and experience you have done relevant to the role you are interviewing for.
