Rebecca Hill - Clinical Team Leader

Rebecca Hill is right back where her career began 18 years ago at Elmwood Memory Care & Hospital.  She is now their Clinical Team Leader.

Born and raised in Napier, Rebecca has worked in Aged Residential Care ever since. Whilst working part-time, Rebecca completed a Bachelor of Nursing and upon graduation, transitioned into a Registered Nurse. For the past 10 years, Rebecca has worked at various Aged Residential Care Facilities within Hawke’s Bay and advanced her career to a Clinical Nurse Manager. Aged Care has always been very dear to her heart and as Rebecca says, “it’s such an immense privilege having the opportunity to help care for those who once cared for us. I absolutely love getting to know our elderly residents who, (metaphorically speaking), become part of my extended family.” Rebecca continues, “I love all aspects of nursing, but Dementia and Palliative care are two areas that I am particularly passionate about”.

Tali Moore - Health Care Assistant

When Tali finished High School, she wasn’t sure what she wanted to do careerwise.

“I had no aspirations, dreams or long-term goals” said Tali. “Until I found out about the Health Cadetship that is run by Te Whatu Ora at the Hawke’s Bay Regional Hospital. They placed me as a cadet for 2 months at the Napier District Masonic Trust. It was never my interest to be a Health Care Assistant and look after “elderly people” but eventually the job began to grow on me.  Being young, I was nervous and anxious about what these adults were going to think of me.”

Fast forward to now and Tali is a permanent full-time Health Care Assistant in Continuing Care.  She has created long-lasting friendships with staff, residents, and even family members of the residents.

“An HCA has the closest contact to the residents. Yes, the work is tiring and the early mornings are hard, but the rewarding feeling at the end of each shift outweighs all of that. I always felt my dream to become a nurse was ‘too hard to achieve’ but by working as an HCA I now have one foot in the door. My dream of becoming a Registered Nurse has turned into a goal that I am currently striving towards.”

Biju Thomas - Head Chef

Biju brings a flavorsome perspective to the Masonic Trust kitchens.

He was born and raised in Kerala, India where his mum inspired his love of cooking as a young teenager and his goal to one day become a chef.

“One of the best parts of being a cook at the Napier Masonic Trust are the compliments  received  from clients, residents, and friends. These compliments are what keep me going and why I love my job. I enjoy introducing new flavors that give our residents a new perspective on the food they eat. If you see me around the kitchen, say hi and start a conversation. We are always keen to take suggestions from others while building good relationships with the residents.”

Jiby Poulose - Clinical Team Leader

Jiby arrived in New Zealand with her family from India, six years ago hoping to study and complete her Bachelor of Nursing.  She is now the clinical team leader at Taradale Masonic Rest Home & Continuing Care.

“I began work at the Masonic Trust as a health care assistant, while I was also doing my nursing studies.  It was not easy handling a career, studies, my work, and family at the same time. But by God’s grace, my team helped me, they motivated and guided me throughout. Every day I had the chance to learn new skills.

Now that I am a clinical team leader, I take every opportunity to improve my leadership qualities and try my best to provide quality care for the residents we care for.  It’s my pleasure to work with the Masonic team as you all are wonderful.”
