Residents from all the Napier Masonic Trust villages were invited to celebrate the opening of the new bowling green at Kensington Masonic Village in May.
A delicious barbeque lunch preceded Vicki Lee, CEO of the Napier District Masonic Trust declaring the green open. The first jack was rolled by Grace Williams, our oldest Kensington resident, and Vicki bowled the first ball.
The perfect autumn day matched the warmth and conviviality of the villagers who attended and bowled on their new green, others tried their luck at pétanque, cornhole and pool or simply enjoyed soaking up the sun and chatting with others.
We hope the new Kensington Bowling Green will encourage inter- village bowling competitions and inspire those thinking about trying lawn bowls to give it a go.
