There was a great deal of chatter amongst the residents at the Taradale Masonic Rest Home last week as they brainstormed what cake they would make to enter the Bake-n-150 competition to celebrate Napier’s 150th birthday.
Biju the catering manager was consulted, and it wasn’t long before the decision was made to bake and ice old fashioned teacakes.
Copies of sepia toned newspapers from throughout the years covered a large cake board and our residents iced the cakes with rosettes and swirls and scattered sprinkles amid laughter and good-hearted instruction.
Katrina our Clinical Services Manager felt honoured to set out the cakes in a large ‘150’ and she talked of their pride and excitement to be part of the event.
AND they came 2nd! Congratulations team, what a fun filled effort from all.
Happy Birthday Napier
